Escape the Bar

Stall

Where are you? Better yet, who are you? More importantly: what's in that coat? One way to find out! Open the Coat in front of you and check out the items in the pocket. You need the Coins the Hanky, and the Wallet. Optionally, you can Take the Gum and Use on Self to eat it. The Lighter and Sunglasses don't surve a purpose, but you can Take them if you really want to.

Once you're done clearing out the pocket, Open up the shiny new Wallet you just obtained. Take the Key1, the Card, and the $20-Bill. Examine the Card to see that it's an access card for Joe Siegel's apartment. Examining the Hankey (and the Lighter, if you grabbed it) show the initials "J.S." Could you be Joe Siegel?

Set your amnesia to the side for now, we need to get out of here! Take the Coat, and see a gun in a holster. Take the .38, and this will complete what you need to do in here. So just Open the door ahead of you and Move through.

Men's Room

If you try to leave the room, you'll find that you think there's something to do. Examine the mirror on the wall to get a good look at your mug. Now we know what we look like, but still not sure who we are. There's nothing else to do here, so Open the door and Move on out.

Washroom Hallway

The door to the left is the Lady's Room, and has some water leaking out from under the door. You can go in there if you want, but there's nothing to do in there. So just Open the door straight ahead and Move into the next room.

Bar

We're now in a bar. Definately the best place to have passed out in the bathroom of. The only thing you can do in this room right now is Take the glass of Seltzer on the bar. The only purpose this serves is to Use it on Self to drink it. Does nothing, so you can just leave the Seltzer on the bar if you're not particularly thirsty. At any rate, Move up the stairs.

Hallway 2F

Examine the pictures on the wall. The second picure back on the righthand wall looks like you! It says it shows a boxer named Ace Harding. Perhaps you aren't Joe Siegal after all. Nothing to do now other than Open and Move through the door.

Reception

There are a few things on the desk you can look at, but the main thing to be done is to Open the desk to take a look inside the drawers. You'll spot an Envelope1, and if you Open that, you'll see a Bill. Examine the Bill to see that it was delivered to Joe Siegal, and lists medications bought with their prices. Reading this will add the doctor's Sherman St. address the bill came from to your address book. Hmmm...wonder if any of those were used on you? You can Take either of those items, but you don't really need to carry them with you. You just needed to read the Bill for the address. We're done here, so Use the Key1 on the door to unlock it so you can Open and Move through it.

Bar Office

Gasp! A dead body! Obviously we need to do the responsible thing and Open the corpse to search his pockets. Take the Key2 from his pockets. Open the desk and search inside to find a Pencil and the Key3. If you Examine the safe on the wall, you'll notice that it features a combination lock. Nothing you can do about that now, so Open up the windows and Move out of the office.

Fire Escape 2F

You have the choice to Move up or down. We're going to Move up to the next level.

Fire Escape 3F

Open the window and Move inside the room.

Torture Room

There's what looks like an unpowered electric chair, some empty pill bottles on the windowsill, and an elevator. We're going to ignore all of that right now, and Open the wastebasket beside the chair. Take the Capsules you find inside. There are a couple paths that can be taken at this point, but for the purposes of this walkthrough we're going to backtrack to the main bar area.

Bar

Open the door just beside the stairs, Move through.

Wine Cellar

As far as I know, you can't pour yourself any wine in this version. Take a look at the wine right beside the barrel. Along the righthand side of the rack are two slots which contain only one bottle. Hit the one in the middle row to Open up a secret passage. Move through the new door.

Hidden Hall

Open the door on the left and Move through.

Casino

A probably illegal casino? Welp, as long as we're here, might as well see if we can win some big bucks. If you've been following along, you'll have 7 coins to play with. If you came here out of order, you might not have any money on you. If that's the case, Examine the center slot machine to find that someone left a quarter that you can Take. Either way, Use your Coins in the slot machine on the right. The game will randomly generate a result. As far as I know, there's no way to lose all your Coins in the slots, so don't be afraid to use your last one if you're that low. Win one or two times until you get at least 18 Coins. Once you have the Coins you need, Move back to the main bar area.

Bar

Now that you've ransacked the dead owner's office, you can waltz out the front door. Use Key3 on it and then head out onto the street.

Alternate Peoria Paths

I sent you along a fairly straightforward path in navigating the bar area, as well as highlighting the secret door in the Wine Cellar. But there are a couple of areas I didn't touch on in the main walkthrough that I wanted to highlight briefly.

Alleyway

The alley is located beside the bar, and can be accessed from street level by the top left square of the Move map when you're Outside the Bar, or by the bottom square when on the Fire Escape 2F. This is a handy way out of the bar if you missed Key3. However, you can't get back up to the fire escape, so this is only a method for quick egress.

Elevator

You can access the elevator from the Casino or the Torture Room. It's readily visible on the third floor room, but in the Casino you need to Move back. To Open it up, you need to Hit the button beside it. Once inside, Hit the button for the floor you wish to go to.

  • Top button: Torture Room
  • 2nd Button: Bar Office, secret entrance closes behind you
  • 3rd Button: Casino
  • 4th Button: Sewer, secret entrance closes behind you.

This can be a quick way to travel between floors while you're exploring if you wish to use it.

Sewers

The sewers can be used as a shortcut to various areas, and can be used to get in and out of the bar if you missed the Key3. The bar has sewer access via the Elevator or the Hidden Hallway.
