Chapter 3: Lair of the Leviathan

"Yeah, hurt him all you want!"

Once in control, head to the right to find an encampment. Turns out it's inhabited by Coronado De Cava. Tell him about the locket, and Guybrush'll hand it over. De Cava will press the arrow button in the middle and be temporarily possessed by the Voodoo Lady (this should be noted for future reference). She'll tell him what not to tell De Cava, and when Coronado asks you for the information you're not supposed to give just pick any response to…give him all the information. Guybrush weasels his way out of the situation, but now we have to pretend that Morgan's his wife. First, we need to wake her up.

Gain De Cava's Trust

Talk to Van Winslow for helpful tips on reviving the unconscious. Follow his instructions, and pay attention to all the clues thrown your way. After some wrist grabbing, sword commandeering, and feet lifting, it's time to find some smelling salts. Head around the side of the ship to climb the gangplank. Now climb the mast and grab some Stinky Earwax. Use the wax on Morgan to revive her.

Guybrush explains the plan and the two head over to De Cava. He quizzes them on their maritals. Just remember that they met through work and went sailing on their first date. He'll then trap you both in cages and grill Guybrush about certain details of Morgan's life. After each question is asked, you can choose to flash back to Morgan's ramblings to gain clues to all the answers. If you're horribly stuck, I've got the full list below.

Join the Brootherhood

Once you succeed, just work your way through the dialogue choices, and then watch a scene that ends with you in the belly of the manatee. Pick any choice you like, then watch the rest of the conversation. Once in control, wander down the path and talk to the Surly Pirate, who's name happens to be Bugeye. Tell him you want to joint the Brotherhood, and ask to call a vote. It will be a unanimous and resounding "no." Well, time to go procure some votes…

Noogie's Vote

Talk to Noogie, the guy playing the bongos. Tell him you want to get his vote for the Brotherhood, then tell him you'll get hook him up on a date with Morgan. When you exit the conversation, Noogie will hand you the Brotherhood Manual. Go talk to Morgan and reference Noogie. She needs some incentive to actually go on the date with him, so tell her it's a recon mission. First: slyly interrogate him. Second: Test his grip, in case it comes to fisticuffs. Third: check for weapons. After the conversation with Noogie, you've got his vote.

Moose's Vote

To get Moose's Vote, you need to get Santino's vote.

Bugeye's Vote

Talk to Bugeye and ask him for his vote. He'll agree to give it to you…assuming you can defeat him in a pirate face off. He starts off with the Stinky Lazyeyed Meanie. You can defeat this easily with a…well, actually, you can't defeat him yet since you don't know any other faces. Just copy his move to dismally fail. In order to defeat him, you're going to need all twelve possible expressions.

You might notice that you're still missing one from each category. To get the rest, challenge Bugeye to another face off. He'll show them off in the second round. The easiest way to beat him is to choose the expression that's adjacent to the ones Bugeye just used, since the repeat of ANY facet will be dubbed unoriginal. So with him starting with Stinky, pick Nasty. Just follow the same method for the second round and you'll top him easily.

Except that he had a hidden third face this whole time! When you get conversation options, chose "Your vote or you're a dead man." You'll win, and his vote is yours.

Santino's Vote

Walk down the ramp until you encounter a talking treasure chest. Click on it to discover that it's locked. Use your hook with the chest to unlock it, then click on the chest to open it. Murray! Once you have Murray in your possession, there's a brief fun thing you can do with him that makes no impact at all on the quest. The otherwise useless grubs wandering around can be picked up. If a grub and Murray are both in your pockets, anytime you open your inventory, Murray will be freaking out about the grub. It amuses me, but is totally unnecessary.

Anyway, with Murray in tow, head back to the bar. Talk to Moose, and ask him about the drinking apparatus. Then announce that it's a special occasion. Pick one, any one will do. While he's drinking, use Morgan's Sword to loosen Santino's head. Use Murray with Santino to swap the skulls. You'd think that giving Murray a body would secure his vote. It doesn't, but it might be worth calling a vote to see the hilariously evil betrayal.

Use the Mug ‘o Bile you acquired earlier, refilling it if necessary, on the Clogged Protuberance to unclog it. Hop in and open the Iron Monkey to receive the torture manual. Combine that with the Brotherhood Manual and then use the false-covered pamphlet on Murray to secure his vote.

Escape via Blowhole

Once you've secured a vote from everyone, just talk to Bugeye to call a vote and you'll be in the Brotherhood. And they'll just hand you the cochlea. With that done, head back to the mouth. Van Winslow will call you over to the ship to warn you about something threatening left behind. Once the Seahorse Head is automatically picked up, board your ship and climb the mast. From the crow's nest, just use the Cochlea with the flesh wound. After a scene, pick any of the dialogue options you want. Once you're being chased, talk to Morgan about all three choices. Pick the new choice and then realize that she needs her sword. Watch the scene, and you'll be back outside the manatee.

Matchmaker, Matchmaker

After De Cava finds out that you can hold your breath for ten minutes, he'll shove you overboard. Once on the ocean floor, click on the treasure chest by the bones. That nets you some useless money, an even more useless crown, and a Wrench. Follow the path to the cave and you'll be greeted with the Leviathan…a giant female manatee.

After Guybrush panics and scrambles back onto the ship, ask how Santino learned to speak manatee to find out that he learned from De Singe. Ask how he made the sounds to find out about the Tongue of the Manatee, and that it's in the safekeeping of one of his crew. Exit that convo and talk to Morgan to get some insight into the manatee…which of course has a double meaning which further complicates the romantic relationships in this game.

Retrieve the tongue

Talk to Bugeye and ask him who had the tongue. He cracks instantly, but he never had it and he doesn't know who did. The other two are a little tougher. It doesn't matter what order you break Moose and Noogie in, but whichever one goes second will know where the tongue is.

To break Noogie, head up to the ship's wheel and inspect De Cava's file chest. Look at Noogie's file to see a picture of Sister Agnes. Hmmm…looks a bit like a Stinky Crosseyed Geezer, to me. Talk to Noogie, choose "ARRR!" and copy Sister Agnes' face. He'll spill all he knows.

To break Moose, chat with him to find that he and Santino stand firm together. Talk to Morgan and ask to borrow her sword. Use the sword on Murray to lob off his head and Moose will crack like a walnut.

When the final one spills his guts, you'll know what and where the Tongue of the Manatee is. Pick up the Flopping Fish near the quarters door, then hop off the plank. Once back on the ocean floor, head left and use the Seahorse Head on the Giant Manatee. In order to get the tongue, you need to use the Flopping Fish on the bongos to raise the bile. Then just use the Weird Bump to reach the Tongue. Use the Manatee Lax with the Bile Pool to return to the ocean.

Learn the Lingo

Inside the Manatee, if you haven't gotten it already, is the picture of you that Morgan dropped in disgust near the bongos earlier. Use the Seahorse Head with the Giant Manatee to enter, then snag the pic and dump the Manatee Lax into the bile pool and return to the ship via the anchor.

Head up to De Cava and click on the locket lying on the barrel. Use the Guybrush Picture on the De Cava picture. Now use the Golden Wrench on the button. Press the button to inhabit the body of the Voodoo Lady.

Click on the Voodoo Mat and pick up all the cards. First you need to bring the Marquis to you, so place the cards in this order: Fracture, Journey, Curse. Once they're set, ring the bell. After he arrives, pick any of the options in the two sets of choices you get. On the third, ask about the language of the manatees. Ask if you can have it, then threaten him with a hex. Click on the Voodoo Mat again and rearrange the cards thus: Journey, Curse, Fracture. Now click on the just-deposited book to learn the beautiful language of the manatees. When you're ready to leave, just make sure the cards are ordered as: Curse, Fracture, Journey.

Guybrush de Bergerac

Now that you have the means to speak and the language know-how, it's time to unite the love birds. Head to the sea bed and use the Tongue of the Manatee on the Giant Manatee. Start with Courtesy, and say that it's pleasant to meet him. The two will then head over to the Leviathan.

Enter the newly vacated cave and obtain the sponge. Once Guybrush wakes up, give Morgan her sword back. Now click on the rope above your cage. Now talk to Morgan and ask if she can reach the rope above your cage. Click on the mast, and the cannonball from De Cava's ship with bounce back and break his cannon. While Bugeye's getting another one, use the Seahorse Head with the cannon. Now enjoy the ending and hilarious credits.
