Clock Tower was originally released for the Super Famicom way back in 1995. It stayed in Japan until it saw a Playstation rerelease with the title Clock Tower: The First Fear, at which point it continued to stay in Japan. Fan translations began popping up over the years, but this game never saw release outside of Japan until Wayforward bankrolled Clock Tower Rewind.
Often regarded as one of early pioneers of horror games, Clock Tower's legacy can arguably still be felt today. The game play concept of a psycho supernatural stalker certainly seems to have made its way into later games, most notably the Resident Evil franchise.
