Deaths

"It's a sad thing that your adventures have ended here!!"

One of the more iconic parts of Shadowgate are the deaths. There are a number of ways to die, and each one has its own unique dialogue to accompany it. I'm not going to spoil what those say, you should definitely check that out for yourself if you want to. This list serves a dual purpose: it can be used to avoid all deaths, or to be able to die in all the ways possible. As far as I know, this list is complete.

Let your Torch go out.
Take the book in the Altar Room
Use the Sword on Self
Use the lit Torch on Self three times
Use the Poker on Self
Cross the wooden bridge in the Twin Bridge room without Using the Bottle 2
Move into the chasm between the twin bridges
Pick something up in the Dragon's Den without picking up the Shield
Take more than three items in the Dragon's Den without leaving to cool off
Open the hatch in the Cold Room and try to Move into it
Try to swim in the Cavern Lake
After freezing the Cavern Lake, Use the lit Torch directly on the Sphere
Open the middle left coffin in the Crypt, then try to Move past the slime
Open the middle left coffin in the Crypt, then Use your lit Torch on the slime
Use the Hammer on the lefthand mirror in the Mirror Room
Use the Hammer on the righthand mirror in the Mirror Room
Climb down the hole in the Mirror Room without having used the Epor spell
Attack the fire drake
After diffusing the fire in the Fire Hall, Move off of the bridge
After diffusing the fire in the Fire Hall, Use the lit Torch on the oil on the floor
Attack the troll with a weapon other than the Spear
Attempt to pay the troll
Attack the cyclops with something other than the loaded Sling
Move into the well in the Courtyard
Open the grate in the Kennel
Use the Fountain on Self to slake your thirst
Attempt to pick up the Blade while the werewolf is still alive
After dispatching the werewolf, Use a lit Torch on it
Use any of the windows you come across
Attack or try to Move past the hellhound
Attack the blue dragon
Attempt to Take the Talisman before defeating the blue dragon
Take the Pot of Gold on the Balcony
Move through the opening on the left in the Cavern Hallway
Move into the lava in the Lava Room
Move into the hold in the floor in the Lever Room
Try to sneak past the gargoyles without using Illumina
In the Well Room, Move into the well without first tossing in the Big Coin
Move into the Underground River
Use the Talisman in the wrong slot
Use the Staff of Ages on the Warlock Lord
Try to attack the Warlock Lord or the Behemoth
