The Entrance

Entrance

Open the skull above the door to reveal Key 1. Take the key. The main door is unlocked, so you can go ahead and Open it and then Move inside.

Antechamber

The Warlock Lord, Talimar, will appear in the form of floating eyeballs and taunt you. Once he’s done, go ahead and survey the room. You’ll see two locked doors. Take the two Torches hanging on the wall. Now use the Key 1 to unlock the door in the back of the room. Open that door and Move through.

Altar Room

Take the two Torches. You’ll notice that one of them will be added to the other Torches you picked up, and the other, with the metal bands around it, will take up its own inventory space We'll call this the Banded Torch. Open the book on the altar. You’ll see the contents displayed on your inventory screen. Take the Key 2, and it will be moved from the book and into your inventory. Move back to the Antechamber.

Antechamber

Use the Key 2 to open up the thin door on the right. Enter the new doorway.

Closet

Nothing much to see here. Take the Sword and the Sling. Now make your way back to the Altar Room.

Altar Room

There are actually two paths out of this room. Looking at the Move map, you can see an exit to the right. However, there’s a spot at the back wall that is a different color than the rest of the wall. Open that spot to reveal a hidden exit to the room, then head through that new doorway.

Short Hall

The only way out appears to be a door too high for you to reach. Take the Arrow along the back wall. There are two Torches, but they’re fastened to the wall. Use the Torch on the left to reveal a secret door. Move on through.

Twin Bridges

The bridge on the right is rickety, and will collapse if you try to cross it. Head across the bridge on the left.

Wraith Room

Remember that single Banded Torch you picked up in the Altar Room? Use the lit Torch on it, and it will ignite with a white flame and destroy the wraith. Take the two Torches, and then take the Cloak hanging up by the door. Use the Cloak on Self to equip it. Now Open the door and Move through.

Epor Room

It may look like a dead end, but there are actually two ways out of this room. We’re only activating one of them right now, though. But first, we have some items to collect. Obviously, take the Torch. On the shelf are three items: Bottle 2, Bottle 1, and Scroll 1. You will need a Bottle 2, but you can also find a couple more later. The Bottle 1 is useless, take it only if you’re trying to collect everything for some reason. The Scroll 1 isn’t technically necessary, but it tells you what you need to do to beat the game, so it’s worth picking up, especially if this is your first time through.

Once you’re done picking up what you want, Look at the sign on the wall that says “Epor.” Look at it a second time, and you’ll learn your first spell! Scroll down to your Spell card and Use or Speak the Epor spell to make the coiled rope on the floor rise to the ceiling. You can now Move through the hatch in the ceiling.

Mirror Room

Take the Broom and the two Torches. There’s nothing else you can do in here yet, so just use the rear exit.

Crypt

The coffin in the upper left is open, as that’s where we just entered from. Ignore the other two coffins on the left, there’s nothing we need inside of them. The middle right coffin can be Opened to reveal Bag 2. Opening the bag will show that it contains three Coppcoins (aka Copper Coins), which are optional items. Open up the bottom right coffin to reveal a mummy. Use your lit Torch on the mummy, and it will burn away revealing a Scepter. Take the Scepter and then back out of the room.

Hallway of Doors

The door at the end of the hallway is open, as that is where we just came from. If you use the rear exit, you’ll find yourself back in the Altar Room. Open up the righthand door and Move through.

Lake Cavern

There’s no way to get that suspiciously obvious key the skeleton is holding. Not until we can deal with that shark, anyway. For not, just Open and Move through the door in the back of the room.

Waterfall

There are five Stones on the ground. You can take all of them if you wish, but you only need one to complete the game. Once you’ve grabbed at least one Stone, Move through the small gap on the left of the waterfall. Not the caved in staircase, the gap is at the very edge of the falls.

Behind the Falls

Hit the obvious rock that stands out from the background, and it will fall away to reveal Bag 1. Open the bag to find the Whitegem, Red Gem, and Blue Gem. Take all the gems, and then head back to the Hallway of Doors.

Hallway of Doors

Open and Move through the lefthand door.

Cold Room

Apparently this room is very chilly. To the right of the door is a small hole in the wall. Use the Whitegem on the hole, and then Take the Sphere that appears on the pedestal. Now Open and Move through the door.

Dragon’s Den

Any move you make here (other than Looking around or leaving) will cause the dragon hiding in the cave to breathe fire at you. To avoid instant death in here, Take the Shield you see on the ground. The Shield is automatically raised to block the fire breath, keeping you alive for now. The astute player will notice that there are seven items in this room that you can take. Before you start greedily start snatching everything up, keep in mind that you can only take three things before your shield melts and you die.

There is a way to take everything, but there are only three items that you need to take from this room. Take the Hammer, Spear, and Torch. Leave the way you came back into the Cold Room. If you decide to nab the other items in the room (a Helmet, two Skulls, and a Bone), then you can head right back into the Dragon’s Den. Your shield has cooled down enough that it can take three more fire blasts. Take three things, leave, then come back for the last one. Once you’ve picked up everything you want, head back to the Lake Cavern.

Lake Cavern

Use the Sphere you picked up in the Cold Room on the lake to freeze it. Now you can Take the Key 3 being held by the skeleton. Use your lit Torch on the lake to temporarily unfreeze it. It will refreeze, but not before the Sphere floats back to the surface. Take the Sphere, then travel to the Epor Room.

Epor Room

If you look at the back wall, you can see a faint outline of a door. If your eyes can’t make it out, don’t worry, just use Open on the wall and the secret door will open and allow you to Move to a new room.

Secret Room

On the floor is a stone slab with a hole in it. Use the Blue Gem on the hole, and the back wall opens up to reveal a wizard. The wizards talks to you, and then leaves Scroll 2 behind and vanishes. Open up Scroll 2 and learn the Humana spell. Now head back to the Mirror Room.

Mirror Room

Use the Hammer on the middle mirror to reveal a door. Use Key 3 on the door to open it. Move through.

Fire Hall

You enter a room where the floor is on fire. If you have the Cloak from the Wraith Room equipped, then you will be able to handle the heat. If you aren’t wearing it, you’ll be overwhelmed by the heat and back out of the room. When you Open the door, a fire drake will burst through and block your exit. To defeat it, just use the Sphere on the flames on the floor. Once the drake is extinguished, you can Move through the door. Note: if you use the Sphere on the flames before you open the door, you will not encounter the fire drake.

Chasm

Try to Move across the bridge, and a troll will appear and demand a gold coin. We don’t have any of those, so just Use the Spear on him to get rid of him. Now Move across the bridge.

Continue into the Living Castle!
