Part II: A Dangerous Journey

You start your long journey toward mutiny in the hold being brief by the Head Swab, Gullet. You can work your way through all the dialog options if you want, but in order to progress you need to ask him what your new role entails. He'll leave the hold and toss a blob of grease for you to clean up. Pick up your mop and swab up the grease. Gullet will keep tossing more down, so don't worry about trying to keep the hold permanently clean. Once you have a greasy mop, use it on the porthole three times to grease it up enough that you can squeeze through.

You find yourself on a ledge along the hull. Make your way all the way to the right and climb the ladder to reach the deck. You'll walk into the middle of a meeting where LeChuck is checking in on the status to getting to Monkey Island. You'll learn that he's keeping the map to the Secret in his cabin, and you'll be tasked with finding a flattened skull to use in the navigation potion.

Getting to Monkey Island

Acquire a Flattened Skull

Head back down into the hold. You can either climb down onto the ledge from the deck and climb through the porthole, or get caught by Gullet and be banished down below once more. There's a conspicuously large crate down there. If you haven't already, open it up to find Murray! I'm not sure if there's a way to talk him into joining you, but you can just forcefully obtain him. Once Murray is in hand, climb back out the porthole and make your way back onto deck. Head below and to the area just outside LeChuck's cabin. In the foreground is a laundry press. If you have no idea what that is, just use the highlight objects button and search around near the bottom of the screen. Once you find it, just use Murray on the press to flatten him out.

All we need to do now is add Murray to the potion to complete the spell. Head back up on deck and toss him into the cauldron. Now we're on our way to Monkey Island!

...unless Gullet decides to mess things up. We may not be able to complete our journey, but at least we got a promotion. Now we just need to figure out how to use our new Head Swab powers to get us to Monkey Island.

Getting to Monkey Island (for real this time)

The best thing to do in any tricky situation is to get the lay of the land. Or of the sea, in this case. Head to the right and climb the ladder on the mast to reach the crow's nest. You can chat with Flambé if you wish, but more importantly you need to look through the spyglass. Once gazing out across the open sea, pan to the right to spot Captain Madison's ship. Guybrush will take note of the fact that they are also preparing the voodoo navigational potion, but their skull crate is conspicuously empty. Which gives us a great idea to follow them...if only they had a skull.

Climb back down to the deck and chat with Iron Rose, the quartermaster. Tell her about your amazing plan and she'll call for a vote. You'll need a unanimous decision from all of the crew to follow Madison, and right now we're lacking one or two votes. Or five...but who's counting. Time to win over the crew!

Putra's Vote

The Chef will vote however Iron Rose votes, so this one's pretty simple. Make sure you ask her about this, because otherwise she'll vote nay regardless of you getting Rose's vote.

Flair Gorey's Vote

Flair can be found sitting by a barrel just outside the galley. Chat with her to find out that you can win her vote by retrieving the knife her grandmother gave her. Which would be easier if it wasn't currently lodged in Gullet's back...given that he was thrown overboard this could be tricky. The more mischievous adventurers amongst you may have decided to try and steer the ship. If so, you would have heard cries of pain. Guess we'd better check the rudder.

Climb down the ladder to the ledge along the outside of the ship. Head all the way to the left and down the ladder at the end to reach the rudder. Caught in its navigatorial embrace is Gullet. Just take the knife out of his back, then head all the way back to Flair and return it to her. She'll be reluctantly grateful and agree to vote for your plan.

Iron Rose's Vote

Have a chat with Rose about the plan and her thoughts on the voyage in general. She's become disillusioned and can't recall why she's even following LeChuck. To restore her faith, head back down into the hold with the chickens. Near your kit bag is the orientation pamphlet given to you upon hire. Pick that up and then give it to Rose to inspire her to vote for your plan.

Flambé's Vote

Head back up to the crow's nest and chat with everyone's favorite nonchalant demon. You won't be able to win his vote easily, but make sure you ask him about his favorite food. Head to the galley and chat with Putra about baking a Scorched Alaska. She won't do it unless she gets promoted to chef. Chat with her about her promotion chances and she'll pull out her proposal. Take the request papers that she sets onto the counter and then head to LeChuck's cabin. Talk to the captain for a bit and you'll see yourself out. Head back in and chat some more and you'll be given the First Swab's Report to fill out. The goal is to tour the ship and take note of everything that needs swabbed. You only need to find five of them, but here is a complete list if you're having trouble tracking them all down:

Once you fill the out the Report with five of those messes, take the report to Rose for her to sign off on it. She'll hand you a stack of paperwork that needs LeChuck's signature. Add Putra's promotion proposal to the rest of the paperwork and hand the whole mess to LeChuck. After he blindly signs the whole stack, show the chef request to Putra to congratulate her on the new promotion. You can now ask about that Scorched Alaska! She'll whip up a batch, and caution you not to eat it. Take this dish up to Flambé and he'll be so grateful that he'll agree to your plan.

Bob's Vote

If you chat with Bob, you'll find out that he craves entertainment. After you've earned Flambé's vote, he'll be so caught up with eating his Scorched Alaska that he'll have no further use for the joke book he was reading. Head up to the crow's nest to "borrow" it, then give it to Bob to earn his vote.

Retrieve the Map

While on deck, head to the right and up the stairs to where the wheel is. You'll spot a ball and a note. Examining the note will reveal that one ring will signal a vote, and two will bring LeChuck up for a friendly berating of the crew. Ring the bell twice to initiate a meeting, and at the earliest opportunity sneak away and head down the stairs just behind LeChuck. Head to the right and through the door to enter LeChuck's cabin. The map is just lying on top of the desk, but you can't just swipe it without it being missed. Use the Mop Map on the Secret Map to swap the two. Now for the skull...

Vote and Set Sail

Head up to the wheel and ring the bell once to call a vote. If you've done all the steps above, you'll have earned a unanimous vote. Now all we have to do is get a skull over to Madison. Load Murray up into the cannon and light it with the nearby torch to fire him over to the other ship.

During the celebration upon arriving at Monkey Island, Guybrush does a Guybrush and blows his cover. Pick any insult you want when fighting off LeChuck, there's no way to win this fight. You'll end up being thrown overboard...but, hey, at least we made it to Monkey Island.
